Galway City and County


Galway city has a host of attractions including Galway Irish Crystal heritage Centre, Lynchs Castle, The Spanish Arch, and the Taibhdhearc (Irelands only Irish Speaking theatre). In County Galway we have the home of Poet W.B Yeats, and the Coole Park visitors centre and this is the former home of Lady Gregory which is located near Gort. The battle of Aughrim, centre gives information on one of the most decisive battles in European history.

The spectacular beautiful country side of Connemara, the coast that has been etched by the Atlantic, the rambling hills and mountains, and the lovely lakes and bays that mirror that special light from the clear skies over the countryside. Other attractions: Aughnanure Castle in Oughterard, Pre-famine farm near Clifden, Leenane Cultural Centre, Kylemore Abbey in Letterfrack, Glengowla mines, The Quiet Man Cottage.

The Aran Islands are one of the most popular tourist destinations in Ireland with the famous Fort of Dun Aonghasa set over 300 feet cliffs with views out to The Cliffs of Moher and Kerry on a clear day.
